Winona Gospel Church
Winona Gospel Church is a congregation of the Associated Gospel Churches in Winona that holds to twenty-one articles of faith and doctrine. These affirm the Scriptures as originally given to be divinely inspired and without error, one God in three persons, salvation by grace through faith alone, the eternal security of the believer and the pre-millennial return of Christ, and teach that tongues and miracles were sign gifts of the early church. The church also adopts the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, the Danvers Statement, the Nashville Statement and the Statement on Social Justice and the Gospel.
Winona Gospel Church is on Glover Road in Winona, in Stoney Creek. Its senior pastor, Gino Dubé, came to the church in November 2010, and Nick Mastervick has been its associate and youth pastor since January 2023.
The City’s inventory of places of worship traces the congregation to 1893, when J. W. Smith and his wife began Sunday school classes in their Winona home; church services followed within a year. In 1914 the group of 25 bought land on Glover Road from the E. D. Smith family and built Winona Gospel Tabernacle, and P. W. Philpott preached at its dedication on 30 August 1914. Three years later it became a branch of Philpott Tabernacle in Hamilton, and in 1922 it joined the association of Gospel churches that took the name Associated Gospel Churches of Canada in 1925. It became Winona Gospel Church in 1940, and its present brick and stone building was dedicated on 23 June 1963 and enlarged in 1980.
Sunday worship is at 10:00 a.m. and is streamed on YouTube.
